Giltner resident Wilbur H. Ocker, 83, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE surrounded by his family.
Graveside Services with military rites by Doniphan American Legion Post 300 are 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Giltner Cemetery in Giltner with Rev. Paul Nauman officiating. The family requests casual dress at the services. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Wilbur was born January 18, 1936, on the family farm near Glenvil, NE to Henry & Reka (Koch) Ocker. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1953. Wilbur served in the U.S. Marine Corps from August 11, 1954, to August 10, 1957, and was proud of being in the Military Police while serving his country. He was employed as a welder for Ingersoll Rand (now Flowserv), farmed, drove a truck, and was a bricklayer. Wilbur was a member of Doniphan American Legion Post 300. Wilbur enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter Ocker; and two sisters, Evelyn Sharp and Ida Tracey.
