Wilfred Jorn

Hastings resident, Wilfred "Willy" J. Jorn, 89, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Friday, September 4, 2015; 9:45 A.M. and Mass of Christian Burial will following at 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church for masses for Willy and his family both living and dead. There will be no viewing or visitation as Wilfred was cremated.

Willy was born to Rollie and Mary (Schumm) Jorn in Lawrence, Nebraska on July 13, 1926. He was the second oldest of five children. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1944. He then worked at a produce and filling station in Lawrence for a couple of years and then he and his father purchased the business. During that time he married Catherine Alford on June 1, 1955. They owned and operated the business until the farmers discontinued milking cows and raising chickens at which time Willy and Catherine moved to Hastings. He worked for Kerrco Plastics for 43 years. When growing up he loved to garden and make things grow. As an adult he and his wife enjoyed many years of ballroom dancing and bowling.

Willy was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Richard Allen; infant grandson, Travis James; brother, Raymond Jorn; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cathelma & Albert Alford; brothers-in-law, Raymond Mahloch, David Vap, Doran Marr and Harry Egan; two nephews, James Vap and James Egan; and sister-in-law, Dollene Egan.
