William Burnham

Hastings resident, William "Bill" Burnham, 83, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska, surrounded by his family.

Services will be Thursday, August 13, 2015; 10:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial with military rites by Nebraska Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 12, 2015; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church or Start Over Rover.

Bill was born October 17, 1931 in Hastings, Nebraska to Clarence M. & Leona M. (Ballard) Burnham. He married Marlita Mae Reiners on September 22, 1951. They had been married for almost 63 years. Bill served with the Army National Guard for 33 years. He worked for Hastings Canvas for 20 years and Metz Bakery for 24 years until his retirement. Bill was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he was very active. He was also a member of the Bakers Union #433, Golden Eagle, and honorary member of the VFW Post #1346. Bill was a bingo caller for VFW and National Guard for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, dancing with his wife, and spending time with his family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlita Mae Burnham; son, Scott A. Burnham; son-in-law, Scott E. Stramel; six brothers, Carl, Fred, Clarence, Robert, Ronald and Charles; and four sisters, Alice, Dorothy, Ida and Katherine.
