William Bye

Hastings resident, William R. "Bill" Bye, 74, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, August 14, 2017; 10:30 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Trumbull. Bill was a loyal Husker fan and the family graciously asks that if attending services you wear Husker attire. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, August 13, 2017; 12:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. with family present 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Bill was born March 16, 1943, in Hastings, Nebraska to Ralph & Fern (Samuelson) Bye. He graduated from Trumbull High School and attended Kearney State College before graduating from Barber College in Lincoln, Nebraska. He married LuAnn Vannier and they had two daughters, Christy and Debbie.

Bill owned his own business and was a barber for several barbershops over his career in Hastings, Juniata, Giltner and the surrounding area. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and past member of Masonic Lodge, Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and Elks. Bill loved to attend all sporting events, especially activities of his grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Phil Kreutz.
