William Halsey, Sr

April 3, 1922 — October 31, 2012

Hastings resident, William Jerome Halsey, Sr., 90, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, November 5, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Dale Phillips officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Saturday, November 3, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family.

William was born April 3, 1922 in Juniata, Nebraska to Bert & Rose (Nabower) Halsey. He moved to Hastings from Kenesaw in 1940. William served with the U.S. Army from October 12, 1942 until November 15, 1945, serving overseas during World War II. He married Margaret Kathryn Schuller on June 5, 1952 in Hastings, Nebraska; she preceded him in death on February 1, 2004. William worked in the maintenance department for Mary Lanning Hospital for 14 years and retired in 1984.

William was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Halsey; infant son, Michael Halsey in 1957; son, William "Bill" J. Halsey, Jr. in 2011; two sisters, Hannah Wilkison and Marybelle Harphan; and two grandchildren.
