William Kohmetscher

Hastings resident, William Thomas Kohmetscher, 80, passed away Monday, October 19, 2009 in Hastings.

Rosary will be Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 7:30 P.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Bernie Kimminau officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 23, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Fathers Michael Houlihan and Bernie Kimminau, and Msgr. Ivan F. Vap officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lawrence, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 21; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Thursday, October 22, 2009; 9:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Funeral Home, and Friday, October 23, 2009, 1 hour prior to service at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Memorials may be given to family's choice.

William was born August 26, 1929 in Webster County, Nebraska to Anthony & Regina (Reining) Kohmetscher. He graduated from Lawrence High School. On April 15, 1952, he married Lois Drudik in Lawrence, Nebraska. He worked as a farmer and rural mail carrier, and retired in 1991. He was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church, Rural Letter Carriers Association, and the NARFE. He was active in the community, holding positions at the Coop, Glenwood Telephone, local country club, and church.

William was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Reynold Kohmetscher, LaVern Kohmetscher, and Harold Kohmetscher; granddaughter, Nicole Lynn Kohmetscher; great-granddaughters, Lillian Grace Kohmetscher and Parker Isabelle Tolen; and a great-grandson, Avery Daniel Lorraine.
