William Laird

Hastings resident, William "Bill" W. Laird, 89, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska surrounded by his family.

Private family services and inurnment will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral Church, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Men's Golf Association at Southern Hills for scholarships. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Bill was born August 24, 1924 in Montevideo, Minnesota to William W. & Margaret (Matheison) Laird. He married Doris E. Nieland on August 27, 1971; she preceded him in death on October 20, 2010. Bill served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He lived in Hastings for 49 years and was the owner of Laird Motors. Bill was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Tehama Shrine, and Southern Hills Country Club. He was always an avid golfer.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Laird; and sister, Betty Frei.
