Hastings resident, William D. "Bill" Langford, Sr., 75, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society - Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014; 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Rev. Charles M. Webster and Rev. Dr. William Spearman officiating. Private family burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Book signing will be one hour prior to the service at the church on December 27th. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Brain Cancer Research Fund - University of Nebraska Foundation or Bill Langford Memorial Violin Scholarship - Hastings College.
Bill Langford was born March 28, 1939 in Whittier, California to William L. & Thecla (Rohr) Langford. On October 2, 1965 he married Nancy Cregger. Bill and Nancy moved to Hastings in 1980. In 1985, Bill and Nancy acquired Hastings Equity Grain Bin in Hastings, growing the business substantially over the next 26 years. Bill was an active member of the Hastings community as a member of Hastings Economic Development Corporation, Hastings Area Manufacturers Association, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and the First Presbyterian Church, including serving as a Trustee. Bill was also a Registered Professional Engineer and private pilot. A life-long violinist, Bill played in the Hastings Symphony before transitioning to bluegrass and old-time country music, playing with a variety of bands across central Nebraska.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
