Bill was born February 3, 1919 in Kansas City, Kansas to William Carl Richard Nollmann and Mabel Julia Cain. Bill and his parents moved to Omaha, Nebraska, soon after his birth, where he lived until he graduated from high school. He met and married his wife of 25 years, Barbara Jean Stuart, in Omaha. He attended Iowa State University, Sioux Falls College (now the University of Sioux Falls), Eastern Theological Seminary and Ottawa University. He finished his seminary education at Ottawa University while fulfilling pastorate duties in Peru, Nebraska. He was the minister to Baptist congregations in Peru, Nebraska; Deadwood, South Dakota; Normal, Illinois; Columbus, Nebraska; and Winner, South Dakota (dual parish with Dixon, South Dakota). He also learned X-ray skills and filled in at Winner Baptist Hospital (now Winner Regional Healthcare Center). While in Winner, Barbara passed away. He then married Norma Reynolds Lokke in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and subsequently moved to Pawnee City, Nebraska to pastor a dual parish with the Christian Church. His last formal pastorate was at St. Charles Avenue Christian Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. While in New Orleans he completed the hospital chaplaincy program at Southern Baptist Hospital. Upon retirement Bill and Norma moved to Hastings, Nebraska where he resided until his death. Among Bill's affiliations were Rotary Club and the Midwest Lodge #317, Scottish Rite, and Tehama Shrine. One of Bill's lifelong interests was flying small aircraft. He taught flying for the Army to pilots preparing to enter World War II and developed the ROTC flying program while a student at Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas. He continued to build model airplanes and to fly remote-controlled model planes. He also enjoyed amateur "ham" radio operating and retained his WOAEN call throughout his life. Bill and Barbara raised three daughters, Jean, Virginia and Joyce. Norma had two children, Gordon and April.
