Wilma Richards

Hastings resident, Wilma J. Richards, 98, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at her home.

Services will be Friday, August 7, 2015; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Cindy Karges officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, 2015; 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with the family present and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Wilma was born October 27, 1916, in Valparaiso, Nebraska, to Gus & Etta (Seedlund) Nelson. She graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1934. Wilma married Howard L. Richards on December 15, 1936; he preceded her in death on December 24, 1997. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a past president of the Eagles Auxiliary. Wilma was a psych-tech at Hastings Regional Center, she was a steamstress, and worked at Hastings Canvas. She was past president of Young Matrons at the YWCA and past president of the Unknown People of Hollywood. She was a grandma to everyone. She was always there for anyone who needed help. Wilma enjoyed dancing, cards, traveling, and shuffleboard.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Lanny Hajny; two sisters; and two brothers.
