Wilma Simmons

Former Hastings resident, Wilma M. Simmons, 92, of Gretna Care Center, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Gretna Care Center, Gretna, Nebraska.

Services will be Saturday, November 15, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the family. Visitation will be Friday, November 14, 2008; 9:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M. with family present from 7:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.

Mrs. Simmons was born August 12, 1916 in King, Nebraska to William & Emma (Erdman) Dier. She graduated from high school and business school. On June 12, 1937, she married Marion Simmons in Tecumseh, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2008. She worked for hospitals in the Hastings and Norfolk area for many years. She was a special person to many people and touched each and everyone's heart.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion, siblings and a son-in-law.

Survived by daughters & families, Marilyn & Rod Bergman, their 3 children and 8 great grandchildren, Kathy Deeds and her 2 children and 6 great grandchildren, Cheryl & Mike Pawloski, their 2 children and 6 great grandchildren and Rhonda & Bruce Skinner, their 2 children and 1 great grandchild, numerous great-great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Warren Rice and numerous nieces & nephews.
