Winafred Reiners

Hastings resident, Winafred Lucille Reiners, 88, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017; 10:30 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church, Hastings with Rev. Marcus J. Mackay officiating. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery, rural Juniata. Memorials may be given to Start Over Rover or Peace Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 19, 2017; 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M with family present 5:00 P.M. - 6:30 P.M . at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lucille was born June 19, 1929 in Red Cloud, Nebraska to Anna F. Spilker and Frederick J. Benker. She raised in Cowles, Nebraska. She was baptized into Christ on July 14, 1929 in Rosemont, Nebraska. Lucille married Loyd William Reiners on June 24, 1951; he preceded her in death on September 18, 1999.

Lucille will be remembered as a resilient (at times stubborn), caring, selfless and thoughtful sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, who above all worked to give all she could to the ones she loved. While working on the family farm, outside of Hastings, she took pride in being a devoted housewife and upon moving to Hastings she worked at Hastings Greenhouse and Dicks Hobbies and Crafts. Her character is shown through her love for animals, nature and gardening. She was calm and serene in her Lutheran Faith, as a devout member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loyd Reiners; son, Nathan "Nate" Reiners; brothers, Frederick Benker Jr & Leo Benker; and sisters, Josephine Benker & Pauline Tappan.
