Winifred Kunkel

Hastings resident, Winifred H. Kunkel, 88, of 721 So. 1st Avenue #412,Goldbeck Towers, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Tuesday, May 5, 2009; 2:00 P.M. at the All Saints Chapel, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings Village, with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Graveside service will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Omaha, Nebraska, at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, May, 5, 2009, 1 hour prior to service at All Saints Chapel. Memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Village-Music Programs.

Mrs. Kunkel was born April 18, 1921, in Sioux City, Iowa to Charles & Winifred (Hurd) Burke. She graduated from South Omaha High School and was an alumnus of Hastings College. On March 30, 1945, she married Harry Warren Kunkel in Omaha. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1995. She was a homemaker and a member of the Choirchimes, directed by Dr. Donald Goodrich, Samaritan Singers, Advisory Board at Good Samaritan Village, Hastings Public Library Book Club and was an accompanist at Peace Chapel at Perkins Pavilion.

Mrs. Kunkel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Harry Warren Kunkel; one sister, Idamae Brewster; and a brother, Charles Burke.
